Perimeter Institute continues to be a trusted source of information and education for the wider Canadian public on topics in science research. Through Perimeter’s various media channels, we share the joy of discovery and the buzz of activity, both within the building and across the Canadian physics landscape, with researchers and the public alike.
Engagement with Perimeter’s channels continues to be high. The Perimeter Institute websites, including the main web page and Inside the Perimeter, racked up more than 1.4 million views from over 509,000 unique visitors in 2023/24. Interest in Perimeter’s social media posts continues to grow, with increased activity on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter). Across all platforms, the Institute’s followers grew by 62 percent, and social media engagement has increased by 213 percent compared to the previous year.
Perimeter’s YouTube channel saw increased activity, with the release of videos in the Conversations at the Perimeter series, videos from Perimeter’s public lecture series, and two new 10-part video series: Quantum 101 and Cosmology 101 with Katie Mack, Hawking Chair in Cosmology and Science Communication at Perimeter. The Perimeter Institute YouTube channel saw a 239 percent increase in subscribers compared to the previous year, as well as 2 million views, a 73 percent increase from the previous year.
Perimeter’s popular public lecture series continued apace this year, with several engaging speakers presenting their research and ideas to the general public in the Mike and Ophelia Lazaridis Theatre of Ideas. In total, this year’s public lectures were attended by more than 800 local attendees.

All public lectures are streamed live on Perimeter Institute’s YouTube channel. This year’s public lectures accumulated more than 450,000 views in the 2023/24 reporting period.
